Yukiko Miyagi


Yukiko Miyagi is currently an Honorary Research Fellow at University of St Andrews in Scotland. Previously, she was a Tutor at St Mary’s College, Durham University. She is the author of Japan’s Security Middle East Policy: theory and cases (Routledge 2008). Her other writings on the Middle East and Asia include Japan’s Middle East policy: ‘still mercantile realism’, International Relations of the Asia-Pacific, Vol 12, No 2 (2012), pp. 287-315; 'Foreign Policy Making under Koizumi: Norms and Japan's role in the 2003 Iraq war', Foreign Policy Analysis Vol 5, No 4 (2009), pp. 349-366; and “Japan’s Policy Toward the Iraq War,” International Journal of Contemporary Iraqi Studies, Vol 2, No 1 (2008), pp. 83-98. She served as an editorial board member of the journal, Asian Politics and Policy for 2008-09 and 2009-10. She earned an MA in Arabic and Middle East Studies from St Andrews, M.Litt. in Security Studies from St Andrews, and a Ph.D. from Sheffield University.
