Dr. Xunpeng Shi serves as an Energy Economist for the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), based in Jakarta, Indonesia. He specializes in energy, resource and environmental economics and Chinese economics. He also has expertise in mineral law and policy. Prior to joining ERIA in 2009, Dr. Shi held a number of other positions, including Coordinator, Coal Division, Energy Bureau, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China; Policy Adviser, General Office, State Administration of Work Safety/Coal Mine Safety of China; Board Secretary, China Shenhua Coal Liquefaction Co. Ltd; and Assistant Economist, Economic Research Institute of China Coal Research Institute (CCRI), Shenhua Group Corporation. He obtained his PhD of Economics and Master of Environmental and Resource Economics from the Australian National University, LLM in Mineral Law and Policy form University of Dundee and B.E. in Marketing from China University of Mining and Technology.
