Steven C. Caton is Professor of Contemporary Arab Studies in the Department of Anthropology and Director of the Center for Middle East Studies at Harvard University. He is the author of three books, the latest being Yemen Chronicle (2005), as well as numerous articles on Arabic language and poetics, film, and popular culture. His current research is on water politics in the Arabian Peninsula.
