Rodney Wilson is Emeritus Professor of Economics at Durham University in the UK. He is also Visiting Professor, Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies and Adjunct Professor, International Centre of Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Kuala Lumpur. Professor Wilson was Director of the Durham University Islamic Finance Programme (2000-11) and Director of Postgraduate Studies, School of Government and International Affairs (2004-09). He is the author of  numerous books and articles on banking, trade, and investment in the Middle East and North Africa. Fortnightly column in Islamic Finance News. His recent consultancies include as a member of the GTZ team, Ministry of Planning, Riyadh; advisor on Shari’ah governance, Islamic Financial Services Board, Kuala Lumpur; consultant to the Central Bank of Qatar on monetary policy and prudential ratios; Project for African Development Bank on status and potential for Islamic finance in North Africa; and work on capital markets in North Africa for African Development Bank.
