Carmen Geha is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration at the American University of Beirut. She teaches public management, citizenship and civic engagement. She specializes in the study of the nexus between public administration and political systems. In particular she comparatively analyzes challenges to administrative and political reform and civil society in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). She has been a Visiting Scholar working on citizenship issues in the Arab region at the Watson Institute at Brown University in summer 2015. She is author of “Civil Society and Political Reform in Lebanon and Libya” (Routledge). Dr. Geha has a decade of experience in development consulting having worked with governments, international organizations, and UN agencies in Lebanon, Tunisia, Libya, Kuwait, and Iraq on issues including municipal governance, women and youth empowerment, voter education, and entrepreneurship programs. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews, and a BA and MA in Public Administration from the American University of Beirut. She has taken courses and attended seminars at the Fletcher School, Tufts University and at Georgetown University.
