Arabic Intermediate I

NOTE: This class is held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for 1 hour each. The course will end on October 30, 2020.

Prerequisites: Intro to Arabic and all Arabic Beginner IIIIII, and IV courses.

This is the first course of the Arabic Intermediate level. Intermediate 1 seeks to build greater conversational skills at an intermediate low level according to the ACTFL scale. Students will continue their linguistic development in sentence structure and verb forms. This course will help students to develop comprehension skills by encouraging the use of context clues and previous knowledge to understand new concepts. Using Arabiyyat al-Naas (Part Two), students will learn vocabulary that is relevant to a variety of common social situations. By the end of this level, students should feel comfortable conversing in Modern Standard Arabic about many practical subjects and scenarios.

Required textbook: Arabiyyat al-Naas (Part Two).
